Community Awareness Outreach Programs

Leaders of REACH  periodically do a free community awareness program to inform the community about autism and  other developmental disabilities. Please contact us if you would like us to come to your place of worship, group or organization. 

The following information will be provided,

            -the purpose of the support group 

            -the needs of children with special needs and their families 

            -normal developmental milestones

            -the importance of early identification and early intervention 

            -the warning signs and red flags of autism

            -what families should do if they suspect their child has a developmental disability

            -teach families advocacy skills, provide resources, and agencies in the community

            -encourage and instruct community members how to work with kids who have Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD)

Christmas Fundraiser for Nehemiah Autism Center  

​ Nehemiah Autism Center is a non-profit organization working to help children and families affected by autism in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It provides free treatment for children, parent training, and community awareness. REACh-Families was proud to have raised funds for this organization Christmas 2012. Members of REACh-Families were successful in doing individual fundraising to benefit families in Ethiopia raising children with autism.

Sibling Event  Fall 2012 

Sibling Support is based on Sibshop Curriculum to benefit siblings of children with special needs.It was led by Biniam Abebe, M.A., LPC.,and assisted by Liala Tesfa, an older sibling. It was held in December 2012.
